These terms apply when you use shadeddiemongruebooksgallery.com, join the Reader's Circle, reserve or buy a membership, or take part in Gallery Points and giveaways. By using the site, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

About the site

The Books Gallery is the official home of author Shad Eddie Mongrue of Antelope, California. Store buttons take you to independent retailers, such as Amazon, Apple Books, Barnes & Noble and Kobo. Purchases made there are governed by that retailer's own terms, prices and refund policies.

Educational content, not advice

Our books, shelves, emails and live sessions are for general education. They are not personal financial, investment, tax, legal, insurance, real-estate, mortgage, medical, nursing or mental-health advice. This applies to every shelf, including Finance, Trading & Investing, Blockchain, Real Estate, Mortgage, Insurance, Health and Nursing.

• Investing and trading involve risk, including losing money, and past results don't guarantee future results.
• Talk to a licensed professional about your own situation before acting.
• For a medical emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.

Digital assets notice

To keep things clear under digital-asset laws in California, the rest of the U.S. and other countries, including the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA):

• We don't deal in digital financial assets. We don't offer, sell, buy, exchange, store, transfer or arrange trades in cryptocurrency, stablecoins, tokens, NFTs or any other digital financial asset. We don't accept them as payment.
• The Blockchain, Trading & Investing and Finance shelves are education only. Nothing on them is an offer or recommendation to buy or sell any asset or security. Mentioning a platform or project isn't an endorsement, and we aren't paid to promote any.
• Gallery Points aren't digital assets. They're a closed loyalty feature. They aren't money, cryptocurrency or a security, they have no cash value, and they can't be bought, sold, transferred or exchanged. They aren't recorded on any blockchain, and they can only be used for rewards with us.
• Ebooks and downloads are digital content that you get a personal license to read. They aren't investments or tokens.

If we ever add a product that's covered by these laws, we'll get the licenses or registrations required first, and we'll update this notice before it launches.

Prepaid memberships

• Prepaid, no auto-renewal. Memberships are bought upfront for a fixed term, such as 3 or 12 months, and end automatically. We'll never charge you again unless you choose to renew.
• Clear prices. Prices are in U.S. dollars and shown before you pay, with any taxes added at checkout. Until checkout opens, the "Reserve" buttons only send us an email. You won't be charged anything.
• Refunds. You can cancel a new membership within 14 days of buying it for a full refund. Email us your request. After 14 days, memberships aren't refundable, except where the law says otherwise or there's a problem we can't fix.
• EU and UK customers. You have a legal 14-day right to withdraw. If you ask us to start sending member-only digital content (such as an ebook download) within those 14 days, we'll ask you to agree to that first. You lose the withdrawal right only for the content already delivered, as the law allows.
• Changing benefits. If we change a benefit in a way that matters to you, we'll tell you by email. You can then cancel and get a refund for the unused part of your term.
• Community conduct. Be respectful in member spaces. We can suspend access for harassment, spam or illegal content, with a pro-rated refund unless the reason was serious misuse.

Gallery Points rules

• Earning. Members earn points for the actions listed on the Rewards section of the home page: joining, memberships, direct purchases, referrals, live sessions, reading challenges, sharing a book and birthdays. Points are added to your account manually or through our membership service.
• Reviews never earn anything. We never give points, prizes, discounts or other rewards for writing, changing or removing a review, whether positive or negative. Retailers such as Amazon don't allow it, and it would make reviews less trustworthy.
• No cash value. Points aren't money, cryptocurrency or property. They can't be bought, sold, transferred, inherited or exchanged for cash. They can only be redeemed for the rewards we list.
• Expiry. Points expire 12 months after you earn them.
• Referrals. A referral counts only when a new, real person joins. Self-referrals and fake accounts aren't allowed.
• Misuse. We can remove points earned by fraud, abuse or mistakes.
• Changes. We can change or end the program with at least 30 days' notice. You can redeem points you already have during that time.
• Void where prohibited by law.

Gifts and giveaways

Free gifts, such as sample chapters, are given with no strings attached. Monthly giveaways haven't started yet. Before the first one, we'll post official rules. They'll cover who can enter (planned: legal U.S. residents 18 and older), how to enter for free, dates, prizes and their value, the odds and how winners are chosen. No purchase or payment will ever be necessary to enter or win, and buying something won't improve your chances. Void where prohibited.

Disclosures

• The author sells his own books. Shad Eddie Mongrue wrote and earns money from the books on this site.
• Affiliate links. At the moment, store links aren't affiliate links. If we add any, or a paid partnership, we'll say so clearly right next to the link or in the content.
• Review copies. We sometimes offer free review copies. You don't have to post a review, and you're always free to say whatever you honestly think.
• Testimonials. Any reader quotes we show will be real, from real readers. We won't change their meaning or write them ourselves.

Your license to the content

The site's text, images, covers and downloads are owned by Shad Eddie Mongrue or used with permission. You may read them, share links to them and use the press-kit files to write about the books. You may not copy, resell or redistribute the books, member content or downloads.

Accessibility

We aim to meet the WCAG 2.2 Level AA accessibility guidelines. If something on the site is hard to use, email us and we'll help you and fix it.

Limits of liability

The site and its content are provided "as is." As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions you make based on general educational content. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it. Nothing here limits rights that can't be limited by law, including your rights as a consumer where you live.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, and any dispute will be heard in the courts of Sacramento County, California. If you're a consumer in another country, you keep the protections of your home country's laws and can bring a claim in your local courts.
